English for All

The “English for All” started in 2021 summer and came from our belief that every child, regardless of their background or location, deserves the opportunity to learn English. In Mae Jam, children often face many obstacles when it comes to education. The lack of qualified teachers, limited resources, and an absence of an English-speaking environment can leave them at a disadvantage. The “English for All” aims to solve all these problems by providing quality English language education to children who might not otherwise have access to it.

When we started the project, we knew that the key to success would be making the lessons engaging and relevant to the students. Many of the children in these areas had never been exposed to English outside of a textbook, and it was essential to make learning a fun and interactive experience. Our curriculum was designed to be hands-on, with activities like games, songs, and storytelling, all aimed at making learning enjoyable and accessible. Our goal was to not only teach children the basics of the English language but to make them excited about learning.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project has been seeing the children’s growth in their communication skills. At first, many of them were hesitant to speak in English, but over time, their confidence grew. They started to understand that English was not just a subject in school but a skill that would allow them to connect with people from different parts of the world.

We are glad that the schools were able to recognize that English could open doors to a brighter future. In many rural communities, children may not have access to the same educational opportunities as other schools in the city. Learning English equips them with skills that will be valuable in higher education and future job opportunities. Whether it’s through online courses, travel, or jobs that require English proficiency, the children involved in the “English for All” project are gaining a competitive edge.

Beyond language skills, the project also aimed to inspire a love for learning. By introducing English at an early age in a fun and non-toxic environment, we hoped to spark an interest in language learning that would last a lifetime. Many students, after experiencing success in learning English, have shown increased interest in pursuing other subjects and continuing to study English during their free time.

The impact of the “English for All” project has been incredibly positive. Teachers have reported higher levels of student engagement, with students actively participating in class and showing excitement about learning. Parents have also expressed their gratitude, recognizing the value of English as a key to their children’s future success.

Thank you all volunteers, teachers, and parents for making this summer program possible. Without your support, our project wouldn't have come this far. We truly hope that in the future we can continue to make education accessible and available to every child.
